Cultural festivals and theatrical events announced across Portugal and Brazil

Various cultural and theatrical events are scheduled across Portugal and Brazil. In Portugal, the 24th Ajidanha International Theatre Festival will take place in Idanha-a-Nova from October 1 to 10, featuring groups from Portugal, Spain, Italy, Lithuania, Brazil, and Israel. Other regional highlights include the 17th É-Aqui-in-Ócio International Theatre Festival in Póvoa de Varzim, focusing on the theme of fear, and the Guitarra d’Alma festival in Castelo Branco. Additionally, the Theatro Gil Vicente in Barcelos has announced an October program featuring music, comedy, and family shows.

In Brazil, the VIII Toni Cunha Brazilian Theatre Festival is opening registrations for its 2026 edition in Itajaí. In Mangabeira, the Centro Cultural Mangabeira Tenente Lucena is launching year-end programming starting with a dance workshop in October. In Angra dos Reis, the 18th International Theatre Festival (FITA) will showcase local productions from the Primeiro Ato workshop between October 7 and 24. Meanwhile, São Gonçalo is hosting a weekend of comedy, dance, and samba at its Municipal Theatre and Northeast Traditions Center.
