AK Antony backs V.D. Satish as Kerala CM, warns state is bankrupt, urges patience

Former defence minister and senior Congress leader A.K. Antony said he fully supports the party's Alakmann decision to appoint V.D. Satish as Kerala's 13th chief minister. He appealed to the public to give the new chief minister time, stating that "Kerala is completely bankrupt" and needs a breather. Antony cited the involvement of senior party figures Sonia Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi in the decision.

Congress MP Hibi Eden also welcomed the move, crediting Satish's five‑year opposition to the LDF for restoring confidence among voters. Satish himself said the selection process involved extensive consultation with former PCC heads, committee members, legislators and MPs, and should not be seen as a delay.

Both leaders urged patience and cooperation with the newly formed state government.
