AK Parti sees surge in political transfers during 25th anniversary

As AK Parti celebrates its 25th anniversary, the ruling party is experiencing a wave of political transfers from opposition parties. During recent events, several members of parliament and municipal leaders officially joined the AK Parti ranks, with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan personally presenting party badges to new members.

Notable transitions include Aydın MP Ömer Karakaş, who moved from İYİ Parti, and several mayors from various districts. Among them, Yakup Odabaşı (Gölbaşı) and Saim Zileli (Eceabat) joined the party after previously being elected on CHP lists. Additionally, Türkan Kayır, the mayor of İdil who was elected via DEM Parti, has also joined, marking the party's first Syriac mayor.

In Ankara, political shifts are causing significant movement. Reports suggest that some CHP municipal leaders are considering joining AK Parti, citing a lack of coordination and support from Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş. This movement has already seen Mamak move to the Yeni Parti, while AK Parti has regained its position as the leading party in terms of district municipalities in the capital.

Former President Abdullah Gül also commented on the party's history, noting that AK Parti was not founded under the leadership of a single individual but through a collaborative process involving extensive preparation with experts and academics.
