AK Party Istanbul Youth Conducts Underwater Cleanup at Maltepe Beach
The AK Party Istanbul Youth Branch organized an awareness dive and underwater cleaning operation at Maltepe Beach. A nine‑person team removed waste from the sea, displayed a banner underwater, and showcased the collected debris along the shore to highlight marine pollution.
Taha Berk Aslantürk, deputy head of the Youth Branch and head of the Environment and Urban Planning Policies Unit, said protecting the environment is a moral and societal responsibility, not a partisan issue. He criticized the current Istanbul municipal management for ignoring the problem and emphasized that clean seas are a shared duty for future generations. Party leaders Abdullah Özdemir and Nevzat Yüce were thanked for supporting the initiative.
The event was reported by several Turkish news agencies, underscoring the Youth Branch’s ongoing efforts to raise environmental consciousness across Istanbul.
