Turkey regional reports: Honey yields rise in Edirne while Zonguldak floods affect workers

Agricultural and community updates across Turkey highlight varying impacts of weather and local administration. In Edirne's Uzunköprü district, seasonal rainfall has significantly boosted honey production. Local beekeeper Fatih Koşar reported that increased vegetation has led to a fertile season, with expectations of harvesting over 1.5 tons of honey from approximately 100 hives.

In contrast, heavy sudden rainfall in Zonguldak's Alaplı district caused significant distress for seasonal hazelnut workers. Flooding submerged approximately 60 tents in the Mollabey and Aşağıdağ villages, destroying food supplies, clothing, and bedding for nearly a thousand workers.

Other regional developments include:

- Aydın: The Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry held its 85th weekly meeting in Koçarlı to discuss fig quality, brand value, and forest fire prevention measures. - Kırıkkale: Mayor Ahmet Önal announced the commencement of pre-registrations for the 2026-2027 LGS preparatory courses at the Atatürk Cultural and Youth Center. - Hakkari: The Çukurca Youth Center hosted summer club activities for local youth, focusing on social skills, sports, and educational workshops.
