Akaysha Energy secures A$1.75 billion for Australian battery projects
Akaysha Energy has secured a A$1.75 billion financing facility from a consortium of 11 banks to support its large-scale energy storage development in Australia. The facility refinances project-level debt into a portfolio-level arrangement covering four battery energy storage system (BESS) assets, including the Brendale and Ulinda Park batteries in Queensland and the Orana battery in New South Wales. The funding also consolidates debt for the Elaine BESS project in Victoria. This milestone follows the full operational commencement of the Waratah Super Battery, an 850 MW/1,680 MWh facility designed to provide grid stability.
In the residential and commercial sector, AlphaESS is expanding its presence in the Australian market. The company, which has operated in Australia since 2015, is preparing to showcase new battery storage solutions at the All Energy Australia event in Melbourne. AlphaESS provides systems designed for both single-phase homes and larger arrays, integrating with various virtual power plant (VPP) programs and local rebate schemes to support the broader energy transition.
