Akaysha Energy battery project financing
Overview
Akaysha Energy has secured a A$1.75 billion financing facility from a consortium of 11 banks to support its large-scale energy storage developments in Australia. The funding is structured as a portfolio-level arrangement that refinances project-level debt for four battery energy storage system (BESS) assets: Brendale and Ulinda Park in Queensland, Orana in New South Wales, and Elaine in Victoria.
While the Brendale, Orana, and Ulinda Park projects are currently operational, construction on the Elaine project began in October 2025 and is expected to conclude in the second half of 2027. The financing includes facilities with tenors of five, seven, and 10 years, intended to support Akaysha’s broader 6 GW/25 GWh development pipeline within Australia’s National Electricity Market.
