Aker BP, Equinor, and Afentra report offshore drilling updates
In the North Sea, Aker BP and Equinor have completed drilling of the dry exploration well 15/6-17 at the Svarteknippa prospect. Located 15 kilometers west of the Solveig field, the well was drilled by the Scarabeo 8 rig to target hydrocarbons in the Hugin and Sleipner formations. While the well encountered the Vestland Group with weak hydrocarbon indicators, reservoir rocks were not proven in the secondary Draupne and Heather formations. The well has been permanently plugged and abandoned.
In Angola, Afentra has concluded its first operated offshore campaign on Block 3/24 in the Lower Congo Basin. Using a remotely operated vehicle (ROV), the company inspected subsea wellheads for the Palanca NE, Golungo-1, and Quissama-1 and Quissama-2 discoveries. The campaign aims to support the technical evaluation of the Golungo-Palanca NE-Quissama (GPQ) development. Afentra is targeting a final investment decision for the project in the fourth quarter of 2026.
