Akershus objects to new Oslo S development plans

Akershus County Council has filed an objection against Bane Nor Eiendom’s development plan for the new Oslo S. The county expresses concern that the current proposal prioritizes short-term financing over long-term transportation needs.

A primary point of contention is the lack of a clear solution for a functional, future-oriented bus terminal. Solveig Schytz, the county councilor for planning, culture heritage, climate, and environment, stated that the proposal does not demonstrate how such a terminal would be accommodated. The county warns that failing to secure sufficient space and flexibility for a bus terminal now could lead to significantly higher costs and development restrictions in the future, noting that Oslo S serves as a vital transit hub for the entire Østlandet region.
