Akhilesh Yadav redefines PDA strategy for Uttar Pradesh elections
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has redefined the ‘PDA’ acronym as a strategy for the upcoming 2027 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections. Traditionally, PDA stood for pichde (backward), Dalit, and alpsankhyak (minorities), representing the party's core focus on social justice and socialist ideology.
Yadav recently shared on X that the term now also signifies “Patience, Discipline, Action,” framing these as keys to success and social unity. He suggested that such positive definitions foster harmony, compassion, and a sense of belonging, which can lead to prosperity.
In a strategic effort to appeal to upper-caste voters, Yadav has also incorporated “aggrieved Pandits” into the PDA concept. He remarked that the term could be interpreted as “PeeDit Pandit” (Aggrieved Pandit), suggesting that the suffering caused by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will only strengthen the PDA movement.
