Akis Skertsos disputes Tsipras's claims regarding Greek economic conditions

Greek Minister of State Akis Skertsos has criticized Alexis Tsipras, accusing him of attempting to idealize the economic period of 2019 by exploiting the passage of time. Skertsos argued that Tsipras's claims that Greeks lived better in 2019 are a distortion of reality.

Skertsos highlighted that between 2015 and 2019, Greece diverged from critical European Union economic indicators while the rest of Europe continued to grow. In contrast, he noted that from 2019 to 2025, Greece has regained ground, with GDP growing faster than the EU average, public debt decreasing rapidly, and deposits increasing.

Furthermore, Skertsos pointed to falling unemployment rates, stating that Greece's progress in this area has surpassed countries such as Spain and France. He contrasted current economic trends with the 17% unemployment rate recorded in 2019.
