Akita and Kyoto Host Free Art Exhibitions Through July 20

The Akita Prefectural Museum is showcasing two simultaneous exhibitions—the 61st "Jiyū Bijutsu‑Akita" show organized by the local branch of the Tokyo‑based Freedom Art Association, and the 42nd Akita Niki exhibition run by the Niki Society. Both run until July 20, are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closing at 4 p.m. on the final day), and admit visitors free of charge.

In Kyoto, the Matsushado Museum in Yawata City opened a painting exhibition on July 18 featuring works by a local art circle. The display includes travel‑scene paintings, picture‑letters with summer‑vegetable motifs, and other varied pieces. Admission is also free and the show runs for an extended period.

Both events highlight regional artists and offer the public free access to a range of abstract and figurative artworks.
