Akmal Saleh sells assets to pay Teresa Kok defamation damages

UMNO Youth Chief Datuk Dr. Muhamad Akmal Saleh has announced he is nearing the RM300,000 required to pay damages and court costs to Seputeh Member of Parliament Teresa Kok. To raise the funds, Akmal sold his Honda X-ADV motorcycle for RM150,000 and sold his tilapia fish stock for approximately RM30,000.

Supporters have also participated by purchasing his tilapia fish at a premium price of RM100 per fish to show solidarity, with many requesting that the fish be redistributed to those in need in Merlimau. Akmal stated that combined with his personal savings, he expects to have the full amount by next week.

While Akmal has received public donations totaling RM173,733.61, he clarified that he does not intend to use these contributions for the legal settlement. Instead, he plans to donate the entirety of the donated funds to people in need and has requested that the public stop transferring money to his account.
