Aksaray truck fined 190,700 lira for fake license plates

In Aksaray, Turkey, the owner of a tow‑certified truck, Lokman Ö., placed a license plate taken from another tow vehicle on his truck and gave the vehicle to employee Ramazan S. While transporting materials on the Aksaray‑Konya highway, the vehicle was flagged by the provincial plate‑recognition system. Police intercepted the truck, confirmed the plate was counterfeit and that the vehicle was authorised for towing.

Lokman Ö. told officers the fake plate was an "APP" plate he had installed, saying "Acil profil istediler, işimiz acildi" ("They needed an urgent profile, our business started"). Ramazan S. said he was a week‑old employee and was unaware the plate was fake. The driver received a 4,700 lira fine for using an old licence, the owner was fined 140,000 lira for fitting a fake plate and 46,000 lira for operating a tow‑certified vehicle without proper registration, totalling 190,700 lira. The truck was banned from traffic for one month and both men were taken to Aksaray police headquarters for further investigation.
