Aksaray‑Konya Road Crash Claims Three Lives, Leaves One Seriously Injured

In the early morning of 11 July 2026, a light‑commercial vehicle (50 AEG 167) driven by 55‑year‑old Adem Gündüz lost steering control on the Aksaray‑Konya highway near the Yenikent junction. The vehicle rolled onto its side and flipped into a ditch.

The crash killed the driver’s wife, Çiğdem Gündüz (52), and their son Emircan Gündüz (25) at the scene. Adem Gündüz was severely injured and later died in Aksaray Education and Research Hospital despite intensive care. Their other son, Bedirhan Gündüz (18), was critically injured but survived after treatment.

Authorities opened a wide‑scale investigation into the cause of the loss of control. Funeral services for the three victims were held in their hometown of Kayseri, with prayers at Hulusi Akar Mosque and burial at Erkilet Bülbül Cemetery, attended by relatives and local residents.
