Akshay Kumar to star in Priyadarshan's 1970s comedy

Actor Akshay Kumar and director Priyadarshan are reuniting for a new comedy film set in the 1970s. The project, which is currently untitled, will mark Priyadarshan’s 99th feature film.

Produced by Ramesh Taurani, the film is expected to begin production in late November 2026. The shooting schedule is slated to last approximately three months, with filming locations including wildlife areas in Rajasthan, a dedicated set in Mumbai, and potential sites in Bhopal.

The ensemble cast includes veteran actors Annu Kapoor and Rajpal Yadav, while the search for the female lead is ongoing. The screenplay is being co-written by Priyadarshan and Rohan Shankar. This marks the third collaboration between Kumar and Priyadarshan, following their recent work on the psychological thriller Haiwaan.
