Akwa Ibom Governor launches economic and infrastructure projects

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has launched several initiatives aimed at economic development and infrastructure improvement under his administration’s ARISE Agenda.

In Uyo, the Governor commissioned a new branch of Signature Bank Limited, emphasizing his commitment to maintaining an investment-friendly environment. He announced the upcoming launch of the AkwaGIS initiative to simplify the process of obtaining Certificates of Occupancy and noted ongoing electricity reforms to achieve 24-hour power supply.

In Ikot Ekpene, the state government flagged off the construction of the Ibom International Market. The project is intended to provide a platform for traders, entrepreneurs, and manufacturers to compete in national and international markets.

Additionally, addressing the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Governor Eno pledged to repair facilities at the orientation camp in Ikot Itie Udung following concerns regarding poor accommodation and infrastructure. The commitment follows the arrival of 1,978 new corps members for the 2026 Batch C Stream 1 orientation.
