Overview

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State continues to focus on social stability, healthcare infrastructure, and energy development.

In September 2026, during a thanksgiving service at Qua Iboe Church, the Governor reiterated his call for peace, unity, and tolerance, warning against division as the 2027 campaign season approaches. He emphasized that collective effort and peaceful coexistence are essential for the state’s progress.

Regarding healthcare, Governor Eno inspected the construction of the Ibom International Hospital in Uyo. Slated for completion by June 2027, the facility is intended to serve as a world-class medical center in Africa, providing specialized services such as cancer treatment and early diagnostics. The Governor also encouraged citizens to enroll in health insurance schemes to manage the costs of such specialized care.

Additionally, the Governor has pledged state government intervention to facilitate the completion of the National Integrated Power Project (NIPP) MI along the Ikot Ekpene–Ikot Abasi axis. Following discussions with the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC), it was noted that the non-payment of wayleave compensation to affected communities has been a primary obstacle to the project, which has faced challenges for approximately 20 years. Governor Eno stated that completing the 330kV transmission line is critical to the state’s industrialization drive and the provision of stable power.
