Al-Azhar warns of regional instability following Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia

Al-Azhar has issued a warning regarding recent Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, describing the strikes as a “clear violation of the principles of Islamic good neighborliness” and an unacceptable infringement on the Kingdom’s sovereignty, security, and stability. The institution cautioned that such escalations threaten regional stability and the lives of innocent civilians, urging all parties to exercise restraint and prioritize wisdom to protect the region.

On Tuesday, Brigadier General Turki al-Malki, spokesperson for the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen, reported that Houthi attacks using ballistic missiles and drones targeted Khamis Mushait, Abha, and Taif. The strikes resulted in 13 civilian injuries and caused damage to seven residential homes and two vehicles.

The attacks occur amid significant shifts in the Yemeni conflict. The Houthi group recently announced control over several districts on the West Coast and islands in the Red Sea, including Mayun Island in the strategic Bab al-Mandab Strait. Conversely, Yemeni government forces reported advances in Al-Jawf province near the Saudi border and conducted airstrikes against Houthi positions in Mocha, Taiz, Lahj, and Al-Dhale, destroying military equipment and vehicles.
