Chile Hosts Al Gore Climate Leadership Workshop

Former U.S. Vice President and Nobel laureate Al Gore arrived in Chile to lead a Climate Reality Project workshop aimed at training a new generation of climate leaders. The event gathered hundreds of NGO representatives, activists, scientists, business leaders and students to discuss the accelerating climate crisis, including NASA projections that large regions of South Asia, the Persian Gulf, the Red Sea, parts of southern China and Brazil could become uninhabitable by 2070, potentially displacing billions.

Participants examined Chile’s renewable‑energy potential, its critical mineral resources for the energy transition, and the social‑environmental tensions that arise from mining and renewable projects. Gore emphasized that political will is a renewable resource and called for coordinated action to reduce greenhouse‑gas emissions and to manage the anticipated climate‑driven migration flows.
