Chile climate leadership workshops

Overview

In mid‑July, former U.S. Vice President Al Gore visited Chile to lead a Climate Reality Project workshop that trained hundreds of activists, scientists, business leaders and students on the accelerating climate crisis and its potential to drive large‑scale migration. The session highlighted Chile’s renewable‑energy prospects, critical mineral assets, and the social‑environmental tensions linked to expanding mining and clean‑energy projects.

Two weeks later, Chile hosted a second sustainability event, this time organized by Pacto Global Chile and CORFO. The gathering brought together private‑sector executives, unions, academics and innovators to discuss the future of work, technological change and the need for ongoing social dialogue. Parallel to the corporate dialogue, the Association of Industrials of Iquique and Tamarugal delivered a module of the “StartClima” program, offering entrepreneurs training on climate‑resilient business models, circular‑economy practices and the Sustainable Development Goals. Together the events illustrate a broadening Chilean effort to combine climate leadership training with concrete entrepreneurship and corporate sustainability initiatives.
