New Valley Governorate hosts several development and environmental project launches

Manal Awad, the Minister of Local Development and Environment, conducted a series of developmental visits to the New Valley Governorate to inspect and inaugurate several key infrastructure and environmental projects.

In the industrial sector, officials inaugurated a craft industries complex in Marzouq village, Balat, spanning 1,000 square meters with 10 specialized units for trades such as carpentry, blacksmithing, and garment making. Additionally, the foundation stone was laid for a new dates and food industries complex in Kharga to boost agricultural manufacturing. The Minister also inaugurated the upgraded ‘Mout’ slaughterhouse in Dakhla, a 21-million-pound project designed to meet modern food safety and environmental standards.

Regarding environmental conservation, the Minister inspected Al-Jara Cave with plans to declare it Egypt’s 32nd natural protectorate. The site is noted for its unique geological formations, including stalactites and stalagmites, as well as ancient rock carvings. The Ministry has ordered an environmental survey of the surrounding area to identify similar sites and develop a comprehensive management plan to promote sustainable eco-tourism while preserving the site's geological value.
