Development projects in Egypt New Valley Governorate
Overview
The New Valley Governorate has initiated several infrastructure, industrial, and environmental projects aimed at regional development. Minister of Local Development and Environment Manal Awad has overseen the inauguration of a craft industries complex in Marzouq village and an upgraded slaughterhouse in Dakhla.
In the agricultural sector, the Upper Egypt Development Authority and the New Valley Governorate have laid the foundation stone for a 50-acre food industry complex in the Dakhla Center industrial zone. This facility is dedicated to date processing, packaging, and cold storage, with a target capacity of 10,000 tons intended to reduce waste and regulate crop trading by 2027.
Environmental efforts include plans to declare Al-Jara Cave Egypt’s 32nd natural protectorate. The Ministry has ordered an environmental survey of the area to develop a management plan for sustainable eco-tourism while preserving the site’s geological formations and ancient rock carvings.
