Al‑Muttaqin Mosque destroyed in Israeli airstrike in Gaza

Israeli warplanes bombed the Al‑Muttaqin Mosque in Gaza City, near the YMCA, destroying the building and nearby tents that housed displaced families. The strike left at least one Palestinian dead and more than a dozen injured, while hundreds of people were rendered homeless when the tents were destroyed. A separate airstrike on the Nuseirat refugee camp killed one Palestinian and wounded at least 20 others. Israel’s security cabinet approved a measure to permit entry of the first members of an International Stabilization Force into Gaza as part of the U.S.-brokered cease‑fire framework.

In the West Bank, Israeli settlers set fire to a house in Abu Najim near Bethlehem, forcing eight Palestinians to flee. Israeli authorities also issued military orders seizure of about 200 dunums of land in the Jenin governorate. The Israeli military said the mosque was being used by Hamas to store weapons, a claim rejected by Palestinian officials. UNESCO has verified damage to 164 cultural sites in Gaza since the war began, including 14 religious sites.

The incident was reported by multiple news outlets, with eyewitnesses describing thick smoke, a large plume of fire, and residents combing through rubble for survivors and personal belongings.
