Al-Qassam Brigades releases video of fighter who left studies in Budapest for Gaza

The Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, released a video documenting the life and military service of Noureddine Mohammed Al-Jamasi. The footage is part of a series titled ‘Aqmar al-Tufan’ (Moons of the Flood), which profiles fighters killed during the conflict.

Al-Jamasi, born in 2003 and a member of the Al-Zaytoun Battalion, gained social media attention for his decision to leave his university studies in Budapest, Hungary, to return to the Gaza Strip following the outbreak of war in October 2023. The released footage includes clips of his life, live-ammunition training exercises, and participation in field confrontations with Israeli forces in areas such as Al-Rahibat and Al-Ahwas.

Al-Jamasi was killed on October 8, 2025, during an attack in the Al-Ahwas area south of Gaza City. Online commentators have highlighted his choice to abandon an academic future in Europe to participate in the conflict, noting the personal hardships he endured during his two years in the Gaza Strip.
