Al-Wafa Hospital in Gaza suspends essential services due to fuel shortage

Al-Wafa Medical Rehabilitation and Specialized Surgery Hospital in the Gaza Strip has announced a temporary suspension of several essential services due to a severe shortage of fuel and operational supplies. The facility relies entirely on generators for electricity, and the lack of diesel has forced the administration to halt outpatient clinics, non-emergency surgeries, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech and swallowing services.

In an effort to preserve remaining resources, the hospital is prioritizing inpatient care and critical medical services for hospitalized patients. The administration warned that without an urgent supply of fuel, oil, spare parts, and maintenance supplies, the facility faces a total shutdown of all vital medical services.

The hospital management has issued an urgent appeal to the World Health Organization, the United Nations, and various humanitarian organizations to intervene immediately. They emphasized that the suspension threatens the health of thousands of patients, including the elderly and people with disabilities, who depend on the hospital for regular treatment and rehabilitation.
