Alabama faces intense heat wave with triple-digit temperatures

A significant heat wave is sweeping across Alabama, with temperatures expected to reach triple digits. The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for much of the state, effective from Friday, August 14, through Monday, August 17.

Heat indices are forecasted to reach as high as 113 degrees in some areas. Specific cities expected to see temperatures near or above 100 degrees include Demopolis, Fayette, Huntsville, Jasper, and Tuscaloosa. Heat indices are projected to spike in Birmingham, Dothan, Gadsden, Huntsville, Jasper, Mobile, and Tuscaloosa, with values ranging between 109 and 111 degrees.

Authorities have warned that extreme heat warnings could be issued in certain regions. Residents are advised to stay hydrated, reduce strenuous activities, wear lightweight clothing, and ensure vulnerable populations, such as children and seniors, remain in cool environments.
