Brazilian states report record Enem 2026 enrollment rates

The state education networks of Tocantins and Alagoas posted historic enrollment figures for the 2026 National High School Exam (Enem). Tocantins recorded 15,477 of its 19,009 graduating students, an 83.6% enrollment rate that places it first among Northern states and ninth nationally, representing a 10% increase over 2025. The state’s program “TO no Enem” provided in‑person and online classes, simulators and study materials. Director Gabriela Carmo noted, “Reaching an 83.6% enrollment rate is the result of collective work…our students recognize Enem as an important pathway to higher education.”

Alagoas achieved a 95.5% enrollment rate, with 29,715 students confirming participation—its highest ever. The figure continues a steady rise from 20,459 in 2023 to 25,861 in 2024 and 29,373 in 2025. Special Education Management teams and the “Foca o Enem” program offered pedagogical support and content review. Special Exams Manager Danielly Verçosa said the result “demonstrates the strength of mobilization across the network.” Both states aim to expand access to public universities and scholarship programs such as Sisu, Prouni and Fies.
