Liga Deportiva Alajuelense reappoints Óscar Ramírez as head coach

Liga Deportiva Alajuelense has officially announced the return of Óscar “Macho” Ramírez as head coach. This marks his fourth stint with the club. Ramírez signed a contract for the Apertura 2026 tournament, which includes an option to extend his tenure through the Clausura 2027 tournament following an evaluation.

The decision follows the departure of Spanish manager Ismael Rescalvo after a short tenure. The club's management aims to stabilize the sporting project and pursue both the national championship and the revalidation of the Central American tournament. Ramírez will be supported by a technical staff including assistants Wardy Alfaro and Javier Delgado.

During his presentation, sports manager Carlos Vela addressed criticisms from fans regarding his role in Rescalvo's hiring, stating that he remains committed to the team's success and accepts the responsibility of the position. Ramírez expressed his enthusiasm for the challenge, noting his desire to work closely with the players to maximize the team's potential.
