Alan Jones trial: Complainant denies lying about indecent assault

A man testifying in a Sydney court has vigorously defended his allegations of indecent assault against veteran broadcaster Alan Jones. The complainant, who was 17 at the time of the alleged incident, testified that while visiting Jones’s property in the New South Wales Southern Highlands, the broadcaster kissed him with his tongue and grabbed his bottom without consent.

During cross-examination, the complainant rejected suggestions from Jones’s barrister, Gabrielle Bashir SC, that the interaction was limited to a simple goodnight hug. The man testified that he felt “violated” and “gross,” describing how he attempted to scrub his mouth in the bathroom following the encounter.

Jones has pleaded not guilty to 21 charges of indecent assault and sexual touching without consent. While the complainant acknowledged that Jones had been generous to his family in the past—including advocating for them and spending significant funds to assist with their difficulties—he maintained that the barrister’s description of the events as “nothing else” occurring was incorrect.
