Alan Jones case sees indecent assault charges reduced to 22 in Sydney court

On 14 July 2026 two further complainants withdrew from the indecent‑assault and sexual‑touching case against former broadcaster Alan Jones, cutting the total number of charges from 26 to 22. The remaining 22 counts relate to six complainants and alleged incidents spanning 2003‑2020 at locations including Jones’s Sydney apartment, a Fitzroy Falls farm, a Kiama restaurant, the Sydney Opera House and other venues.

Jones, 85, has pleaded not guilty to the original 25 counts of indecent assault and two counts of sexual touching. He is scheduled to appear before the Downing Centre Local Court on 3 August for a trial that is expected to run for several months. Earlier in the pre‑trial phase prosecutors had already withdrawn four charges, and the case has seen other complainants drop out, leaving the current reduced charge slate.

The court proceedings will address the admissibility of evidence from witnesses who have not given police statements and other legal issues, but the immediate impact is the lowering of the number of allegations Jones faces as the trial approaches.
