Acre political landscape shifts as 2026 election candidates debate
Political activity in Acre is intensifying ahead of the 2026 elections, marked by candidate debates and new polling data.
In the race for the governorship, Thor Dantas has proposed focusing on industrialization and infrastructure to combat economic stagnation and population outflow. He argues that the state must process raw materials like coffee, meat, and fruits locally to increase value. Meanwhile, Alan Rick has opened his campaign committee in Rio Branco, receiving public support from former mayor Fernanda Hassem. During recent debates, Alan Rick criticized the current administration for the closure of the Specialized Police Station for Combating Corruption (Decor), a claim Mailza Assis, the incumbent candidate, disputed by stating the unit was reorganized rather than deactivated.
Regarding the Senate race, polling indicates a fragmented field. Márcio Bittar leads with 18.84% of the stimulated vote, followed by Gladson Cameli (16.60%) and Mara Rocha (14.07%). In a separate poll regarding the presidency, Flávio Bolsonaro shows a significant lead over Lula among Acre voters, holding 50.80% in a stimulated first-round scenario.
Other candidates, including Jorge Viana and Sérgio Petecão, remain part of the competitive landscape as the series of televised interviews continues through September.
