Turkey reports armed robbery, mistaken identity shooting, and major theft

Several criminal incidents have been reported across Turkey. In Alanya, a masked and armed individual attempted to rob a currency exchange office in the Güllerpınarı neighborhood. During a struggle with the owner, Y. E., the suspect stole approximately 400,000 TL before fleeing. Following a police investigation, three suspects—S. G., A. U., and A. Ç.—were detained, and the stolen funds were recovered.

In İzmir's Gaziemir district, Hasan Başar, a 2016 Turkish MMA champion and gym owner, was shot by two individuals on a motorcycle. The attackers reportedly asked, “Doğan sen misin?” (Are you Doğan?). Despite Başar clarifying his identity, the assailants fired, striking him in the leg and breaking a bone. Başar was treated at Dokuz Eylül University Hospital and has since been discharged.

In Bursa's Nilüfer district, a 48-year-old man, G. K., was apprehended after stealing 440 packs of cigarettes from a chain market. The theft, valued at approximately 60,000 TL, was captured on security cameras. The suspect reportedly waited in a queue at a deposit machine before fleeing. After compensating the market for the loss, the suspect was released following police procedures.
