Alanya tourism faces pollution and health concerns

The Alanya region in Turkey is facing significant tourism concerns following reports of environmental pollution and health issues. In the Konaklı coastal area, black, foamy water has been observed discharging from a pipe into the sea, accompanied by a strong odor. While local authorities have recently completed modernizations to the Konaklı wastewater treatment plant, they have yet to determine the exact source of the dark discharge and are working to collect water samples for analysis.

Simultaneously, reports have emerged regarding health complications among tourists in Alanya. A group of travelers reported that several children suffered from severe abdominal cramps and fever, requiring hospitalization. While initial local medical assessments suggested rotavirus, subsequent testing in the travelers' home country identified salmonella in one child. The affected group had been staying at the Taç Premiér hotel, though the establishment has denied responsibility for the illness.
