Alayköy nightclub targeted in armed attack

Two suspects, identified by the initials K. B. and D. D., appeared in court following an armed attack on a nightclub sign in Alayköy. According to police testimony, the incident occurred around 00:30 on August 28, 2026. The suspects allegedly fired two shots from a Felix Sarasqueta brand shotgun at the nightclub's signage because they were not provided with hostesses.

Following the incident, police located the suspects in Girne in a vehicle with the license plate LD 558. A search of the vehicle uncovered the shotgun and 15 shotgun shells hidden in a white bag under the front passenger seat. The suspects face charges including illegal possession and use of firearms and explosives, as well as firing weapons in a residential area.

While the suspects questioned the necessity of further detention, Judge Zehra Yalkut Bilgeç ordered that both individuals remain in police custody for an additional three days due to the serious nature of the alleged crimes.
