Romania police conduct widespread operations and arrests
Romanian law enforcement agencies have conducted extensive operations across the country, resulting in numerous arrests and fines. National-level actions by the Ministry of Internal Affairs saw police responding to over 3,700 citizen requests, issuing more than 8,600 contraventions, and seizing 416 driver's licenses.
Regional enforcement efforts included large-scale night patrols in Brașov and Petroșani to improve road safety and public order. In western Romania, transport police inspected hundreds of vehicles and trains to verify the legality of freight transport.
Criminal reports include a variety of incidents: a man arrested for a third attempt to rob a company in Huedin, a duo detained for illegal logging and assaulting a forest ranger, and a man arrested for domestic violence in Argeș. Other notable cases involve a man detained for a sexual assault involving a minor, a fraudulent online accommodation scheme in Constanța that defrauded tourists of 33,000 lei, and a violent conflict in the Jiu Valley resulting in four arrests. Additionally, a 17-year-old in Sibiu was injured in a bear attack while working at a family sheepfold.
