Ghana NDC holds nationwide constituency elections

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is conducting nationwide constituency elections across 276 constituencies on October 24 and 25, 2026. The exercise aims to elect new constituency executives for approximately 25 positions per constituency, including roles such as chairman, secretary, and various organizers, to strengthen the party’s grassroots structure ahead of the 2028 general elections.

While many areas report smooth proceedings, several flashpoints have emerged. In Bimbilla, police arrested delegates for allegedly photographing ballot papers, causing agitation. In Nkwanta North, the election for Deputy Women’s Organiser was suspended following a dispute over a ballot paper error that swapped candidate positions. Other reported tensions include disputes over voters' registers in the Ashanti Region.

National leaders and regional chairmen have called for peace and unity. In the Central Region, police have deployed security to ensure order, warning against hooliganism. On the national level, Joseph Yammin is set to retain his position as National Organiser unopposed in the upcoming December 19 national executive elections.
