Albania electrician fatalities spark safety concerns
A series of fatal accidents involving electrical workers has raised concerns regarding safety standards and infrastructure in Albania. Democratic Party deputy Enno Bozdo reported that at least five electricians have lost their lives in the last three months due to electricity-related incidents. These fatalities occurred in Mirditë, Himarë, Pogradec, Vau i Dejës, and Tropojë, with additional workers injured in Tropojë.
In a recent incident in the village of Margëlliç, Patos, a 46-year-old electrician identified as E. D. died after an electric pole collapsed while he was performing his duties. Local police are investigating the circumstances of the fall.
Bozdo has criticized the government, suggesting that these deaths are not mere accidents but a direct result of a deteriorating electrical network and insufficient workplace safety protocols. He has called on Minister Karakaçi to provide explanations regarding the number of victims and responsibility for worker safety.
