Albania investigates bomb threats sent to state institutions
Multiple institutions across several Albanian cities, including Vlorë and Berat, were targeted by a series of threatening emails claiming that bombs had been planted in their buildings. The messages, sent from an unidentified foreign email address, contained terrorist rhetoric and claimed to be from the Islamic State.
Targeted institutions included the Court, Municipality, and Prosecutor's Office in Vlorë, as well as SPAK and GJKKO. In response to the threats, the Albanian State Police deployed specialized anti-terror units, including K9 teams and specialized equipment, to conduct thorough inspections of the affected sites.
Authorities have confirmed that no explosives or dangerous devices were found during the searches. The Directorate for Cybercrime Investigation, in coordination with the Anti-Terrorism Directorate and other law enforcement agencies, is currently working to identify the author of the emails and the origin of the messages. The police have urged citizens not to panic and stated that they are working to ensure public safety.
