Albania joins NASA-led Artemis Accords for space exploration

Albania is set to become the 73rd signatory of the Artemis Accords, an international initiative led by NASA and the United States Department of State to promote peaceful, safe, and sustainable space exploration. The signing ceremony is scheduled for Monday, September 21, at NASA headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Albanian officials attending the event include Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Ferit Hoxha and Ambassador to the United States Ervin Bushati. The ceremony will be led by NASA Deputy Administrator Matt Anderson alongside representatives from the U.S. Department of State.

Established in 2020, the Artemis Accords establish common principles for civil exploration of the Moon, Mars, and beyond. The framework focuses on increasing safety, transparency, and international coordination. Key principles include the peaceful use of space, the registration of space objects, the exchange of scientific data, and providing assistance in emergencies to avoid harmful interference between missions.
