Albania launches price transparency and consumer protection initiatives

Prime Minister Edi Rama has introduced two new initiatives, ‘Pasqyra e Çmimeve’ (Price Mirror) and ‘KURSE’, designed to reduce daily living expenses for Albanian families and increase market transparency.

The ‘Pasqyra e Çmimeve’ platform includes 238 products across 13 categories, allowing citizens to compare prices and select the most affordable options. This is part of a broader ‘Pasqyra Albania’ concept aimed at providing easier access to factual data across various sectors.

The ‘KURSE’ initiative features 325 discounted offers, providing an average price reduction of 13.3%, with some discounts reaching up to 40%. These measures resulted from cooperation between the government, supermarket chains, and suppliers. Rama noted that the agreement aims to protect consumer interests amidst rising costs and emphasized that the law provides for fines in cases of price speculation. The current price agreements are set to remain in effect until January 12 of next year.
