Albania prioritizes defense industry development

Albanian Defense Minister Ermal Nufi has identified the development of the national defense industry as a strategic priority for the country. He stated that this initiative aims to bolster national security, technological capabilities, and economic growth, while fulfilling Albania's commitments as a NATO member.

Through the state-owned company KAYO, established in 2024, Albania is currently developing six joint ventures with international companies via public-private partnerships. Nufi noted that 40 domestically produced vehicles have already entered the inventory of the Armed Forces, and the country plans to begin the production of light ammunition in the near future. The Minister also referenced Fincantieri Albania regarding the production of naval equipment.
