Albania sees sharp rise in basic food and fuel prices in June 2026
Albania’s Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) reported that consumer prices for essential goods surged in June 2026, outpacing the overall inflation average of 3.2%. Among the 45 items analyzed, 28 registered price increases while 16 fell.
The strongest gains were recorded for lemons (+23.5% to 253.6 lek/kg), coffee (+14.6% to 169.2 lek per 100 g), liquid gas (+12.4% to 64.4 lek per litre) and wine (+11.2% to 756.9 lek for a 0.75‑L bottle). Other notable upticks included cucumbers (+9.9%), peppers (+8%), yogurt (+6.9%) and olive oil (+5%). Conversely, canned fish, sugar and beer were cheaper than a year earlier.
These movements reflect both domestic market dynamics and external factors such as the impact of the Iran conflict on international gas markets.
