Albanian Competition Authority monitors supermarket prices
The Albanian Competition Authority has launched a monitoring initiative targeting the country’s major supermarkets following numerous citizen complaints regarding the rising costs of daily consumer goods. The investigation focuses on 30 high-volume products most frequently purchased by Albanian families.
Supermarkets are required to submit detailed sales and pricing data covering the period from January 2025 to June 2026. The Authority intends to analyze this data to determine price fluctuations and assess whether market competition is effectively serving consumer interests.
This regulatory scrutiny comes amid economic shifts; recent data from INSTAT indicates that inflation reached 3.4% in July 2026, up from 2.5% the previous year.
