Albanian MP Taulant Balla Calls for Construction Halt During Tourist Season
Taulant Balla, head of the Socialist Party's parliamentary group in Albania, has urged the parliament to suspend all construction work in coastal and lake‑front tourist areas during the peak tourist season. He argues that ongoing building activities generate noise and diminish the quality of visitors' holidays and the country's image as a tourism destination.
Balla presented a draft amendment to the tourism law that would not only pause construction but also standardise hotel star ratings, introduce electronic registration of hotel guests, and improve waste management at accommodation facilities. The proposal is being pushed for accelerated approval in the Albanian parliament.
