Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama faces protests demanding resignation and technical government
Organisers of a mass, peaceful protest in Tirana announced a five‑point platform calling for the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama and his cabinet, the establishment of a non‑partisan technical government with a clear 12‑month mandate, and the drafting of a new constitution to be approved by referendum. The platform also seeks to limit the prime minister’s term, repeal recent changes to protected‑area, cultural‑heritage and strategic‑investment laws, and create a new social contract between citizens and the state.
Protesters, now in their 25th day of sit‑ins, warned that actions will intensify, including the possible blocking of state institutions. They plan a larger rally on 4 July, inviting diaspora members to join and broaden support for the demands.
