Albanian protesters demand Edi Rama's resignation and interim technical government

Demonstrators in Tirana released a list of demands addressed to the Albanian government. They call for the unconditional resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama, the creation of a non‑partisan transitional technical government with a 12‑month mandate, and sweeping constitutional reforms, including a referendum to limit the prime minister’s term to two mandates.

The protesters also seek repeal of several laws – those governing protected areas, cultural heritage, and strategic investments – and propose a new social contract drafted after broad public and expert consultation. The demonstrations are part of the ongoing "Flamingo Revolution" sparked by a controversial luxury tourist complex linked to Jared Kushner, son‑in‑law of former U.S. President Donald Trump. Participants cite economic hardships such as low wages and high living costs, accusing the government of a depopulation agenda. Rallies are also being organized by the Albanian diaspora in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Sweden and Australia, and the protests are pledged to continue peacefully until the demands are met.
