Albanian protests continue against Trump-linked Zvernec tourism project

Demonstrations in Tirana have entered their 27th‑28th day, with crowds gathering at Iskender Bey Square under the slogan “Albania is not for sale.” Protesters claim a planned $4 billion tourism development on the Zvernec coast is tied to U.S. President Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump and son‑in‑law Jared Kushner.

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has denied any Trump‑family ownership of the project and the country's special prosecutor has opened an investigation. Police have used water cannons against demonstrators, while activists continue to march to the Prime Minister’s office carrying Albanian flags and placards.

The protests, which began on 30 May and have attracted thousands, highlight public opposition to perceived foreign influence over Albania’s land and development policies.
