Albanian road accidents in early August claim multiple lives
In the first four days of August, Albania experienced a surge of serious road accidents across several highways, resulting in multiple fatalities and dozens of injuries. Notable deaths included Aleks Ukë, who died at the Trauma Hospital in Tirana after a severe crash on the Fushë Arrëz–Bajram Curri road near Porav, a 50‑year‑old man killed on the Lezhë–Milot road, and 20‑year‑old van driver Antonio Mateli who died following a crash near Ksamil. Additional collisions on the Elbasan–Peqin, Fier–Lushnjë, Lushnjë–Berat, and Fier–Patos routes left several people hospitalized in regional hospitals.
The incidents highlight a concerning rise in traffic accidents nationwide, with many victims requiring urgent medical care at regional facilities and the national Trauma Hospital in Tirana.
