Albania’s political critics denounce EU parliamentarians and flag 35‑year transition flaws

On Monday a group of Albanian critics welcomed EU parliamentarians visiting Tirana, marking 35 years since the fall of the communist dictatorship. They accused the visitors of hypocrisy, saying EU representatives had previously ignored Albania’s democratic deficits and human‑rights abuses, and claimed that current Albanian leadership continues authoritarian practices.
